Settler
Settler 4Ply
Settler 4Ply is a unique New Zealand yarn that celebrates the heritage of one of our country's most remarkable sheep breeds. Blending fine Merino with rare Arapawa wool, this yarn combines softness, warmth, and character in every stitch.
The Arapawa sheep are believed to be descendants of some of the earliest sheep brought to New Zealand by European settlers in the early 1800s. Isolated for generations on Arapaoa Island in the Marlborough Sounds, they developed into a distinctive heritage breed known for their hardiness, resilience, and beautifully textured fleece.
The name Settler pays tribute to these original "woolly settlers" and the important role they played in New Zealand's farming history. By incorporating Arapawa wool into this yarn, we honour a unique part of our agricultural heritage while helping preserve a rare breed for future generations.
Worsted spun for strength, softness, and exceptional stitch definition, Settler 4Ply produces fabric with beautiful drape and durability while retaining the natural character that makes this blend so special. The Arapawa fibre adds subtle depth and texture, creating a yarn that is both distinctive and versatile.
Perfect for sweaters, shawls, accessories, and heirloom projects, Settler showcases the very best of New Zealand fibre in every stitch.
