Wild Wool 4 Ply – Merino & Arapawa

Wild Wool 4 Ply is a unique blend of soft white Merino and natural-coloured Arapawa wool, spun using a traditional woollen spinning process to create a beautifully light, lofty yarn with a distinctive heathered appearance.

The natural resilience of Merino combined with the character of Arapawa produces a warm, airy yarn with exceptional bounce and a wonderfully soft, squishy feel, making it ideal for garments and accessories that are both cosy and lightweight.

What makes Wild Wool truly special is the way it is made. During processing, the natural-coloured Arapawa wool is hand-fed into the woollen card, creating the signature marled effect. Because of this handcrafted process, no two skeins are ever exactly the same. The distribution of the darker fibres will naturally vary from skein to skein, making every one unique.

These subtle variations are not faults, they are part of the beauty and authenticity of this yarn. Each skein tells its own story, celebrating the natural colours of one of New Zealand’s rare heritage sheep breeds and ensuring every finished project is truly one of a kind.

Please note: As this yarn is handcrafted using natural fibres, slight variations in colour and fibre distribution between skeins are to be expected. If working on a larger project, we recommend alternating skeins every few rows to blend these beautiful natural variations.
